PDF editor and tools
Write, sign, highlight, fill in a form, then reorder, merge, split or compress your PDFs. Everything happens in your browser, which also makes it suitable for sensitive documents (ID, payslips, students' work…).
🔒 Your PDF never leaves your computer. Free, no sign-up, no limits, no watermark.
Drag pages to reorder them (or use the arrows), rotate ↻, duplicate ⧉, insert a blank page + or delete ×. Images become A4 pages.
Click the thumbnails to pick pages, or type them: “1-3, 5, 8-end”.
How do I edit and sign a PDF?
- Open the PDF in the “Edit and sign” tab (drag and drop or “Open”).
- Pick a tool: Text to write (click where you want it), Highlight, freehand Draw (mouse, finger or stylus), Shapes, Cover to hide an area, Image, Signature (drawn, imported or typed) and Stamps (✓, ✗, date, “Read and approved”, a mark out of 20…). PDF form fields can be filled in directly.
- Adjust: with the Select tool, move, resize, duplicate or copy an element onto every page (handy for initials). Ctrl+Z undoes.
- Download the PDF: additions are merged into the pages and look the same in every viewer. The “Pages” button sends the edited document to “Merge and organise”.
Your work is kept as a draft in this browser: after an accidental reload, just click “Resume”.
Why are these tools safe?
Most online PDF sites upload your files to their servers to process them. Here, nothing leaves your device: the page loads open-source libraries (pdf-lib and Mozilla's pdf.js) and your browser does all the work. You can check it: once the page has loaded, the tools keep working even offline.
Frequently asked questions
How do I merge several PDFs?
In “Merge and organise”, add your files: all their pages appear one after another. Drag pages to reorder them, then click “Create the PDF”. You can add photos too (JPEG, PNG): each one becomes an A4 page, handy for putting together photographed documents.
How do I extract a few pages from a PDF?
In “Split”, click the pages you want or type their numbers (“2, 5-7”), then “Split”. To get several files, choose “One file per page range”: “1-4, 5-9” gives two PDFs.
How much smaller does compression make a PDF?
It depends on the content. A PDF full of photos can lose 50 to 90% of its size; a text PDF is already small and changes little. If the result is not smaller, the tool says so and offers the original. For a scanned document, “Turn each page into an image” usually gives the best result.
Can I change the text already in the PDF?
Not directly: cover it with the Cover tool, then write over it with the Text tool. Note that the cover hides the area but the original text stays in the file and can be copied: do not use it to remove confidential information.
Is the added signature legally binding?
It is a digitised handwritten signature, like a scanned one. It is not a qualified electronic signature under the EU eIDAS regulation.
Are password-protected PDFs supported?
The editor opens them once you enter the password, but cannot save them again as they are: it produces an unprotected copy whose pages are images. The merge, split and compress tools do not accept them.
Are all PDF forms supported?
Standard PDF forms (AcroForm) yes: on export you can flatten them or keep the fields editable. XFA forms, a dynamic format specific to Adobe, are not supported.
Four common situations
Signing a contract or lease received by email
- Open the PDF in the “Edit and sign” tab.
- Draw your signature with the mouse or a finger (or import an image), place it, and add the date and “Read and approved” with the text tool.
- Save the PDF: the document never leaves your computer.
Sending a file as a single document
In “Merge and organise”, drop your ID (JPEG photo), proof of address and latest tax notice: images become A4 pages, drag pages into the required order, rotate a page scanned upside down, then create the PDF.
Meeting a size limit
A platform rejects files over 2 MB? The “recommended” level reduces photos to 150 dpi at JPEG 75% without touching text: a 12 MB scanned file often drops below 2 MB. For a very heavy scan, the option that turns each page into an image shrinks it further, but text is no longer selectable.
Sending only a few pages
In “Split”, type 1-3, 8-end to extract those pages into one PDF, or split the document into one file per page (to return each student's scanned paper, for example).
Filling in a PDF form
Interactive forms (most official forms) have fields that are detected automatically: click and type. For a non-interactive PDF (a scanned form), add text boxes where you need to write, and tick marks with the text tool.
Why local processing matters
Most online PDF sites upload your files to their servers. For an ID card, a payslip, a tax notice or students' work, that is an unnecessary risk. Here, reading, editing and saving happen entirely in your browser: you can even go offline once the page has loaded. There are no size or file limits, no watermark and no account.
Good to know
- A drawn signature is not a “qualified” electronic signature under the EU eIDAS regulation; it suits everyday documents (lease, quote, permission slip), not deeds that require a certified signature.
- Keep a copy of the original before editing an important document.
- To hide information (a number, an address), an opaque box placed on top is not always enough: the original text may remain in the file. Use “turn each page into an image” to truly remove hidden text.
To shrink photos before adding them, see image compressor.
