Spinoo, the random wheel

Enter your names and spin the wheel: the draw is fair and verifiable. Free, no sign-up, nothing is sent to a server.

How does Spinoo work?

Is the draw really random?

Yes. Every draw uses the browser's cryptographic random generator. The winner is computed before the animation from a random seed and the list, and the “fairness certificate” lets anyone redo the calculation to check that the result was not chosen.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. The list, the history and the centre image stay in your browser. The share link contains the list itself: only the people you send it to can see it.

How to use it

  1. Enter participants, one per line, or import a CSV file or a Google Sheets sheet, then update the wheel.
  2. Add weights if needed: Leah:3 gives Leah three times the chance of someone with no weight.
  3. Spin with one click (or the keyboard). The winner is shown and the history keeps every draw.
  4. Choose the mode: single draw, or elimination to remove each winner and get a full order.
  5. Customise: colours, centre image, full screen, countdown before the draw, names hidden while spinning.
  6. Share the wheel by link: the list is contained in the link, nothing is stored on a server.

Ideas

How is the draw made verifiable?

Before the animation, Spinoo draws a random seed with the browser's cryptographic generator and derives the winner from the list and weights. The animation only shows a result already fixed: the wheel's speed has no influence. The certificate shows the seed, the list and the result; anyone can redo the calculation and get the same winner. That is the difference from a wheel that stops “wherever the animation lands”.
