Why move from Quizlet to Anki?

Anki is free on desktop and Android, works offline and schedules reviews with spaced repetition: each card comes back just before you would forget it. Your Quizlet sets become an Anki deck in seconds.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account or a subscription?

No. The tool does not connect to Quizlet: it reads the text you paste and builds the deck in your browser. It works with private sets too, and nothing is uploaded.

How do I open the deck?

On a computer, double-click the .apkg file (or File → Import in Anki). On Android, open it with AnkiDroid; on iPhone, with AnkiMobile. You can also study it online with Mini-Anki.

What about images or formulas?

Quizlet's export only contains text. To add images, sounds or formulas, use the Anki card generator.

My definitions span several lines

In Quizlet, choose a custom row separator (e.g. “###”), then set the same one here under “Between cards”.

A conversion example

A vocabulary set exported from Quizlet looks like this, with a tab between term and definition:

l'escalier	the stairs
emprunter	to borrow
une étagère	a shelf

Pasted into the tool, it gives three cards, shown at once in the preview. Pick the deck name (“French – Unit 4”), the card type and tags, then download the .apkg file.
