Online quiz for students

Students answer the quiz on their phone or computer, with no account and no app. The teacher creates the link in the MCQ generator; answers stay in browsers and nothing is sent to a server.

  1. Write the quiz in the MCQ generator (plain text, formulas allowed), or open a saved quiz.
  2. Choose the marking in the “Online quiz for students” block: answer codes (the link contains no correct answers) or instant score (encrypted answers, ideal for practice).
  3. Send the link or project the QR code. Each student gets the chosen version A, B… or a random version.
  4. Mark: paste the answer codes you received into the generator; each student's score appears, with per-question detail and a spreadsheet export.

Frequently asked questions

Do students need an account?

No. The link opens the quiz directly in the phone or computer browser. No email address is asked for and no data is sent to a server.

Can students see the answers in the link?

With answer codes, no: the link only contains the questions. With the instant score, correct answers are encrypted in the link: they cannot be read, but a very tech-savvy student could recover them. Use this mode for practice, and answer codes for a graded test.

How do I collect students' answers?

At the end, each student gets an answer code (one line of text) to send you by the school messaging system, by email or by showing a QR code. Paste all codes into the MCQ generator: it computes the scores, the average and the per-question detail.

Do all students get the same paper?

You choose: one specific version (A, B, C…) or a random version for each student. Versions are exactly those of the printed paper, with the same shuffle of questions and answers.

What if a student closes the page?

Their answers are kept in their browser: reopening the same link brings back their work where they left it.

Running a quiz in class with phones

  1. Prepare the quiz in the MCQ generator. Set the title (“Quiz 3 – Year 10B”): students see it at the top of the screen.
  2. In the Online quiz for students block, choose “Answer codes” and “A random version for each student”: neighbours do not get the same question order.
  3. Project the QR code. Students scan it, type their name and answer.
  4. At the end, each student sends you their answer code (school messaging, email, or a QR code shown on screen).
  5. Paste all codes into the generator and click Mark: scores, average and success per question, exportable to a spreadsheet.
